He's pardoned his own citizen gestapo. No matter what they do, he can just pardon them. Even if the police arrest them, they can just get pardoned.

White militia groups are now empowered to do whatever the fuck they want.

He can only pardon federal crimes. In most states, governor's can pardon state crimes ... some states have different processes and some don't allow it at all.

Pardoning is typically also an admission of guilt...ie you're guilty of the crime, but your sentence is completed, so you still have it on your record.

With that said, I have absolutely zero clue how all that works with these blanket pardons where they're just given out to thousands of people at once.

It doesn't matter what the specifics are. There's a few million idiots who now think they can do whatever they want and it's fine as long as they then send Trump an X-Tweet or whatever about a pardon. Fingers crossed he has only been a very elaborate and well acted out honeypot to catch extremists.

Yeah, pardons don't effect most people, so all that they know about it is "it takes away the crime" and Presidents can do them ... which is both true and wildly inaccurate.

We'll see if it's just the next 4 years that are horrific or if the American experiment has come to its grisly conclusion.

Trump saying he will pardon will create two scenarios that will stifle any state level prosecution.

Republican AGs will just not charge because they are on board with the fascism. Republican governors have a decent chance of doing their own pardons.

Any AG who would have prosecuted the same behavior a decade ago is far less likely to because of the time and cost of trying to prosecute while Trump brings the weight of the federal government into a state case with massive amounts of pointless contests and many won't see it as worth the effort.

Conservatives have weaponized the courts and it no longer matters whether a crime is federal or state level when it can be easily nullified.
